Minding Shadows was born out of my friendship with Venerable Sangharakkhita and our shared commitment to trauma healing, mindfulness, and visibility for asylum-seekers. Thanks to the contingent nature of documentary filmmaking, Minding Shadows took on a life of its own when we started filming in Africa, when Sangharakkhita traveled to Sri Lanka, and finally settled in Europe—and of course, thanks to the global pandemic of COVID-19 that halted production on so many documentary projects.

However—in keeping with the resilience at the heart of the Minding Shadows project—we are back in business! We have started to apply for grants and workshops to support continued filming in Germany and Italy and hope to be filming again in Fall 2023.
